Accurate to a thousandth of a millimetre

With around 1,000 employees, worldwide branches and continuous product innovations, KAPP NILES has been one of our flagship and most successful companies for many years. With Martin Kapp, his two sons Michael and Matthias, and Helmut Nüssle, this long-established company has a highly competent management team with vision, which knows how to master even challenging situations.

Press the clutch, shift into gear, drive off... Driving a car is so easy. That's true. But only because and when the components that make it possible work precisely. Without precisely meshing gears, transmissions would not function efficiently and machines and engines would not move. KAPP NILES stands for machines and tools used to manufacture high-precision gears, shafts and special profiles.

When something is described as particularly precise, the term ‘millimetre-accurate’ is often used. The approximately 1,000 KAPP NILES employees and premium customers worldwide can only smile wearily at this. At KAPP NILES, precision to a thousandth of a millimetre is standard – regardless of whether the workpiece to be machined has a diameter of eight metres or just a few millimetres. The Coburg-based family business has an outstanding reputation as a highly specialised manufacturer of solutions and machines for the precision machining of gear teeth and profiles. Companies from the automotive sector, manufacturers from the aerospace industry and producers of turbines and wind turbines all rely on the expertise and know-how of KAPP NILES.

Customer- and service-oriented – KAPP NILES produces fascinating machines.

However, an order is not complete once installation at the customer's premises has been finished. Service is a top priority throughout the entire life cycle of a system: prototype processing, automation connection, commissioning, spare parts supply and employee training online and on site guarantee consistent quality.

Next generation takes over

A generational change is coming in 2021: Michael and Matthias Kapp are continuing the family tradition of the company founded by their grandfather in 1953 and are joining the management team. ‘We are a family business and want to remain so in the future. That is why we attach great importance to stability, independence and future security. BayBG is an important partner for us in this regard,’ says Matthias Kapp. In addition to the current business areas, the third generation also plans to expand the business fields of digitalisation and e-mobility.

Globally active, connected to home

In addition to its headquarters in Coburg, the company has other production facilities in Germany, for example in Berlin, the headquarters of NILES Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH, which was acquired in 1997 and has since given the company its name. KAPP also operates numerous branches around the globe.

Regardless of this global positioning, Kapp has close ties to his Upper Franconian homeland. The Dr. Kapp Role Model Award honours special voluntary work. Since 2001, the Dr.-Ing. E. h. Bernhard Kapp Award has recognised special research achievements by school pupils from the region.
