A chronicle of success
1936: The farmers are thrilled
The iron-rimmed wooden vessels and troughs of the cooper Georg Reich and his company founded in Landsberg in 1936 are versatile and in high demand in agriculture.
1950: From wood to GRP plastic
By using glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP), Reich is among the pioneers in the production of containers made from particularly lightweight and corrosion-resistant GFRP. Therefore, Reich containers and systems are especially suitable for chemically demanding applications.
1985: Brine systems for winter serviceses
Reich begins production of tanks, silos and brine pumping systems for winter services for municipalities and road maintenance depots and quickly develops into the market leader.
1998: New company building
Growing demand and increasing production necessitate bigger capacities. In 1998, Reich moved to its new, larger company building in Pürgen near Landsberg.
2010: Breitlgens' new CEO
The founder's grandson, Ralph Breiltgens, takes over management. He switches the design process to 3D. He establishes additional business areas, including solutions for the chemical industry and air pollution control at waste incineration plants.
2015: Overcoming a difficult situation through BayBG's engagement
Despite a good order situation, Reich is experiencing a liquidity crisis following a major payment default and is forced to file for insolvency under self-administration. Customers, suppliers, employees, and investors are familiar with the company and its managing director. They know that this externally caused crisis will soon be overcome and remain loyal to Reich.
Since the company is in a substantially good position, there are several potential buyers.
The highest degree of agreement regarding the future direction of the company emerges with BayBG, which is acquiring a 49 percent stake as a minority shareholder in Reich, thus enabling the final restructuring of the liabilities side.
2017: Back in full force
The self-administration proceedings were successfully completed in March. Restructuring and reorganization activities are taking effect at all levels. Demand, which never wavered, continues to increase.
2020: 3,000 systems were completed
Reich occupies a prominent position in the market for brine systems, and the three thousandth Reich system will go into operation in the spring.
